Walking is another really accessible and simple technique proven to have a huge impact on overall physical and mental wellbeing.
Incorporating regular walks into your routine is the best and most consistent way to get those steps in! Whether it’s a brisk walk in the park on your lunch break, or a full blown hike in nature, the benefits are clear.
Walking has many health benefits, here's how it can help you.
1. Enhances Physical Health: Walking is an accessible but impactful form of exercise. Not only will it help keep your joints supple, tone muscles and burn calories, it also strengthens the heart, enhancing circulation and reducing the risk of heart disease.
2. Improves Mental Health: Walking, especially in nature, lowers stress hormones and alleviates anxiety. The endorphins released during physical activity improve your mood and reduce feelings of depression. It is also known to increase blood flow to the brain, which can help with memory and cognitive abilities.
3. Boosts Wellbeing: Walking provides a moment of calm - an opportunity to tune into feeling good, especially if you're lucky enough to be out and about in nature. It can infuse you with a new energy and provide a period of reflection; a better way of looking at things.
"For me, walking is a really big opportunity to tune into feeling good, just to find out what feels right, what feels good, and often for me that turns into pure relaxation, feeling your body moving slowly, that's the energy I need."
