We add sugar at the beginning of the fermentation process, which the live cultures consume and convert into organic acids and carbon dioxide (bubbles!). By the time the fermentation process is complete, all the sugar has been consumed and the final product is sugar free.
We know that health problems such as obesity and tooth decay are linked to the amount of free sugars in our diets and that most children and adults in the UK eat too much sugar, so it was important for all of our drinks to be sugar free or low in sugar.
In order to achieve this, whilst maintaining a great taste, we chose Stevia to sweeten our Sugar Free Kombucha and Water Kefir.
Stevia is 200 times sweeter than table sugar, meaning we only needed to use the tiniest amount to achieve the perfect level of sweetness. Stevia is also naturally derived from plants and has no effect on blood sugar levels or negative effects on health, making it safe and suitable for everyone.
As a drinks brand, we are unable to provide medical advice regarding diabetes. We recommend that individuals always consult their GP or registered dietitian regarding specific dietary choices.
However, for guidance, our sugar-free kombucha and water kefir contain less than 0.5g of sugar per 100ml and are sweetened with stevia, which has no caloric value. This makes our drinks a preferred choice for individuals actively managing their sugar intake.
We encourage you to check the full nutritional panel on the back of the bottle to match the product to your personal dietary plan
Yes, all our drinks contain a tiny amount of alcohol as a natural by-product of the fermentation process. The amount is so small that our drinks are categorised as non-alcoholic, and are often lower than the levels of alcohol found in a piece of fruit or natural fruit juices.
We formulate our products specifically for adult routines and cannot recommend them for children. Our organic chilled kombuchas contain low, natural caffeine levels (equivalent to less than one cup of green tea) and are unpasteurised, so they are not recommended for children under the age of 5.
Our health shots are highly nutrient-dense and contain high levels of vitamins. Our Energy shot, in particular, contains a significant amount of natural caffeine (65mg per shot) which is unsuitable for children. Therefore, our health shots are not recommended for children under 18.
Please be mindful of all stated daily intake limits on the label, as the nutrient and caffeine levels are formulated for adult consumption.
All of our drinks are gluten free and therefore suitable for Coeliacs.
Our Water Kefir is caffeine free!
Our Kombucha is naturally caffeinated as it is brewed from Sencha green tea, but it therefore contains no more caffeine than one cup of green tea.
Our Health Shots contain a small amount of Kombucha so they contain even less caffeine than our Kombucha drinks.
Kombucha is generally an unpasteurised live drink and as such, some doctors advise against drinking it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Commercial kombucha is produced in highly regulated brewing conditions which prevents possible contamination of any unfriendly bacteria.
If erring on the side of caution you might choose to only drink commercially produced kombucha during pregnancy and breastfeeding or avoiding it entirely due to the low levels of alcohol and caffeine. If in doubt, speak to a medical professional.
Our Water Kefir has added probiotic bacteria Bacillus Coagulans which studies have shown alters intestinal bacterial flora to help support relief from bloating or digestive discomfort. This strain of bacteria has been found to successfully treat conditions such as IBS. Please note, however, that the benefits of ‘probiotics’ are strain specific and variable amongst individuals.
Our Health Shots contain Bacillus Coagulans as well as prebiotic Chicory Inulin. However, please note that if you are following a low FODMAP diet, Chicory Inulin is a fructo-oligosaccharide, which may trigger IBS symptoms including bloating and flatulence in some people.
Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) vary from one person to another so it is always best to speak to your GP or health professional first: what helps alleviate symptoms for one person may be a trigger for someone else, which is especially true of fermented food and drinks.
If you suffer from IBS and decide to try our drinks for the first time, we recommend you introduce them into your diet gradually, monitor your symptoms and, if you experience any discomfort, consult your GP or a health professional.
Kombucha typically contains Gluconacetobacter, Lactobacillus and Zygosaccharomyces as part of the fermentation process. However, as our Kombucha is authentically made, the number of live cultures varies by batch.
There are approximately 2 billion live bacteria of the species Bacillus Coagulans in each of our Health Shots.
There are more than 100 million live bacteria of the species Bacillus Coagulans in each of our Water Kefir bottles (330ml).
Each can contains 10mg of high-quality, cold-pressed CBD, carefully measured to provide
balance and support. 10mg is the recommended amount by the FSA.
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a natural compound found in hemp plants. It interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system to help promote relaxation and balance.
No, our CBD drinks contain no THC (the psychoactive compound in cannabis), so they won’t cause any intoxicating effects.
Yes, our drinks are consciously formulated to be enjoyed daily as part of your wellness routine. We simply ask that you stay mindful of your total intake.
To ensure you enjoy our CBD safely, we follow the expert advice from the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA), which recommends:
- Mindful Consumption Limit: For healthy adults, the maximum advised intake of CBD from all food sources is 10mg per day. The FSA encourage you to check the CBD content of your chosen product to ensure your total daily consumption stays within this limit.
- Groups to Avoid: As a precaution, the FSA advises that CBD should not be consumed by those under 18, or women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive.
- Medication Check: If you are currently taking any medication, please consult your doctor before adding CBD to your routine.
If you are taking medication, it’s best to consult with your healthcare provider before
adding CBD to your routine.
Store in a cool, dry place or refrigerate for optimal freshness.
Yes, our drinks contain cold-pressed CBD derived from hemp and are totally compliant with UK
and EU laws, containing no THC.
Cold-pressed CBD is extracted and pressed naturally to retain the full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds from the hemp plant, offering a more holistic "entourage effect."
In contrast, CBD
isolate is chemically processed to remove all other plant compounds, leaving behind 99%+ pure CBD. This is classed as a novel food by the FSA.
Due to the natural processing of cold pressed hemp oil it is not classed as a novel food by the FSA and is within their guidelines.
